What you need for a good Shrimp environment?

So you maybe wondering what do I need in order to make a Happy home for my Shrimps?

Get 2.5 gallon or 5.5 tank
Use Water Volume Filter for Aquarium,Fish Tank Pouring Diffuser to put in the water
1st get 10 of the color you want in the tank later of shrimp ( if you dont want alot of Culls you should focus on one color ( I sell them on my website)
Hornwort
Sword plant
Java moss
Get sponge filter

- For 10-26 Gallons Use 100 W
- For 40 Gallon Need 2 100 W
Food Dishes i use
- Good Food dish like this one or smaller one ( that one has a tube)

Seasoned log that has bacteria already for you ( ask your local Pet store for this)
Get a good net to use to move them into tank when ready

- Smaller tanks under 5 gallon that are rimless use this If its not rimless this will fail done use
Thermometer any kind you like digital or non digital
Red Volcanic Rock small Pieces ( Soak them before you put in and Rinse)
Crushed Coral and put in Filter Media Bag I put mine inside the plane for my 20 gallon
Natural Cholla Wood for Aquarium Decoration Shrimp and Fish Tank (4 Inch) ( Soak in water for 30 mins from the tank and then wait for it to sink)
SunGrow Alder Cones for Shrimps, Water Conditioner for Freshwater Shrimp Tanks, Aquarium Decorations & Accessories, 1”, 50 Cones per Pack ( Put in 2 but soak them 1st in dish with some of the water from the tank and then put them on the hornwort till they sink like the one you see near the feeder)
JOR Calcium Rocks for Shrimps, Isopods, Crayfish, Parrot and Snails, 100 Grams ( soak in water in a dish from water in tank and then sink them in different places in the tank) Dont put it in there directly from the bag ( Only put 1 or 2 in there)

- If you have more than one line use this to save on air pumps
- Suction Cups to hold lines
- Regulator to adjust the flow on lines of sponge filter

Here are the steps I do

Pick the tank you want to use
Coat the tank bottom with Aqua Natural Delta Sand Bio-Substrate 5lb for Aquariums, Sand seeded with Start up bio-Active nitrifying Bacteria (1 of 4 ratio)
- *DO NOT RINSE* Use as a primary substrate or add to another substrate in a new or existing aquarium. Use 1lb (450g) of mixed LIVE Bio-Substrate and DRY Substrate for every 1 gallons (3.8 litres) of water. Mixing ratio is 1:4 (1 LIVE to 4 DRY).
Then put Fluval 12694 Plant and Shrimp Stratum for Freshwater Fish Tanks, 8.8 lb
Depending on the size of the tank you want about 1-2 inches on the bottom
Now put a plastic bag on top of the soil and fill the water there dont let the sand and soil move that bag
When almost full take the bag out
Put a heater in and put in a filter I prefer sponge filter for my shrimp I have a few that I use
Turn on Clip on Aquarium light

Let the tank sit for a few weeks. The Bio Substrate says you wont have to wait to cycle, but wait 1-2 weeks
Check your PH, KH and GH and use this Strips are not very reliable but if you do want to use them use this
Put a Thermometer on the outside unless you are going to do a heater that shows the temp and set to the tempatrue of your fish or shrimp to be
Now that the tank is cycled
Put in the cholla wood that has been presoaked in tank water for a few hours
Add your lava rocks and Calicum rocks where you like them
Put in your driftwood that you soaked in tank water
Add in some Hornwort, Amazon Sword and Java moss in different places
Floating duckweed
Add in some Water Lettuce
Presoak in cholla wood water that is from the tank water put in some calicum balls depending on the size of your tank
Put in a few Alder cones Careful you dont get the smaller ones get the big ones
Put in a decor for the shrimp or fish to hide in
Put a food dish that has a feeding tube and feeding dish nothing that touches the ground

Now the part you been waiting for

Add in your shrimp if a shrimp tank
If a Fish tank check for the tank mates
- Dont put Goldfish with Angelfish ( they need different water Temps)
- Betta with Guppies ( big No NO)
- Ottos are Great with Shrimp
Now sit back and relax

Maintenance of tank

Daily i feed my shrimp and clean up after them with gets dusty
Fish dont let the food sit around all day and nite.

Use a Turkey baster to clean up after the shrimp dishes between water changes on Saturdays
At nite, put Algea Wafers for the Ottos and any Loaches
Water Change 10% on Saturdays

Nightly I remove the main food dish and put back in the morning after i clean it
